Heavy rainfall, damaging winds likely as severe storm warning issued for ACT
Heavy rainfall and a severe thunderstorm is forecast to hit Canberra on Monday afternoon.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Canberra and parts of NSW. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall is likely in the region over the next several hours.
Bureau senior forecaster Jordan Notara said storms currently west of the ACT would likely track east through Monday afternoon into the evening.
Mr Notara said heavy rainfall causing flash flooding and water over roadways was possible, with the potential for up to 70mm in an hour.
